The Bed and Breakfast and Inn is aptly named Blanche Dubois at Elysian Fields and is located at 109 Thomas Street East in beautiful downtown Napanee. The Inn has been described by guests to be true to its name; as gracious as the Femme Fa’tale Blanche Dubois and as idyllic as the mythological Elysian Fields. The large Victorian home presents an appealing architectural presence as a neighbour to the impressive Lennox and Addington courthouse to the west. The Gothic and Italianate revival style features suggests that the house was built circa 1880. Much of the original interior woodwork also remains and is reminiscent of the elegance of the era. The architectural form and details of this house implies an overall sense of balance, stability, permanence and tranquility, which is immediately apparent as guests enter.
There are three beautifully appointed guest bedrooms with ensuite bathrooms, a spacious dining room, parlour and a splendid modern kitchen in which delectable meals are prepared.
The chef and owner, Eunice Champlin,( Former Chef and Owner of Café Blanche Dubois) has established a reputation as a passionate cook whose focus on ecogastronomy ensures that meals are prepared from authentic properly grown ingredients, that are beautifully presented on fine tableware, in a serene and comfortable dining room, with its original dramatic tin ceiling.
The patio and gardens at the rear of the house have been beautifully landscaped by Mr Randall Weiting of Kingston Nurseries.
Perennials, annuals, herbs and a variety of vegetables provide a cornucopia of fragrances, colours and textures. A Zen garden with quiet fountains provides relaxation and invites contemplation.
A unique experience awaits you at Blanche Dubois at Elysian Fields.
